It's Not a Box
It’s not a box!
It’s an intergalactic
Spaceship fantastic
Jettisoning through the sky.
It’s a great pirate ship
Slicing foam at a clip,
The old Jolly Roger up high.
It’s a great red balloon,
Loose from its mooring,
Floating on snatches of breeze.
It’s a trap! We are captured
By spiteful macaques
Lingering up in the trees.
It’s a carpet, a boat,
A bridge o’er a moat,
A steed of a staggering size,
A home for a gnome,
A castle, a cave,
A top-secret car in disguise.
But it’s not—
No, it’s not—
Nor it was—
Nor it ever will be—
A plain, ordinary,
Just imaginary,
Brown cardboard,
Unrestored,
Most ignored,
Unadored
Box.
